The finest quality antique Josef Fischer Ranger hickory mountaineering skis and leather boots that you will find in a long time.
Fischer founded his company in 1924 when he began making wagons but quickly realized that with the abundance and beauty of Hickory – he could create skis out of a single piece without lamination. No one has come close to matching his artistry to this day.
The boots are original to the skis, full leather with sheepskin tongue and heel flap. Also notice the extra lace grab flaps alongside the laces for mountain trail breaking (shoe laces are probably not original). We can not find any markings on the boots except for some very worn sliver numbers/lettering way down inside that is unreadable. Steel toe bars, re-enforced tendon support lacing, hobnail heels and thick heavy duty soles.
Bindings are strong and work as intended. Boots weigh 6 pounds each, skis weigh 10 pounds each.
Skis measure about 81″ long by 3 1/4″ wide, boots look to be a mans size 9/10.
The only flaw on the set that we can find is the leather strap where it buckles is slightly worn. A tiny bit of leather conditioner would make this set look new again. Make them yours while you can, you will probably not find another set as nice as these.
